Back Bay Chorale Music Director Scott Allen Jarrett takes the Period Instrument Orchestra and Chorus on a journey through Christmas past, from medieval plainchant to the 18th century. Corelli’s popular Christmas Concerto is one of many highlights in a creative program also featuring J.S. Bach’s joyous Cantata 40 and Cantata IV from the Christmas Oratorio. TUESDAY DECEMBER 23TH 

MARY BAKER EDDY LIBRARY

10am – 4pm / Mapparium tours every 20 minutes / $3-$6 for admission

Bring the whole family to the Mary Baker Eddy Library (which will be closed Dec 24-26), and explore the Mapparium and peruse the exhibits. Currently on view is Transcending Boundaries, an exhibition presented in collaboration with Artists for Humanity, as well as a collection of photographs and documents that provide a glimpse into life in mid-nineteenth-century America. While a the library, join in an ongoing program-Handmade for the Homeless—visitors are invited to make items (hats, scarves, blankets, mittens, etc) for the less fortunate. Conductor Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops present a fun and exciting performance filled with holiday favorites and classic Pops sing-along songs. Christmas eve offers a kid’s matinee performance (children 2 years or younger are free!) at 11am as well as a regular showing at 3pm!
