The program will celebrate The New England Conservatory’s 150th anniversay and includes pieces such as; Shostakovich, Octet; Brahms, String Sextet No. 2, Op. 36; and Mendelssohn, Octet. Shostakovich’s Octet was written when the composer was a conservatory student. Brahms’s String Sextet No. 2 in G major, Op. 36 was first performed in Boston on Oct. 11, 1866.
