New England Aquarium Celebrates World Oceans Day

June 10 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm EDT

Free. Does not include museum admission.

In celebration of World Oceans Day, New England Aquarium will be hosting a one-day festival filled with family-friendly, interactive activities – from a sustainable seafood demonstration to creative, hands-on art activities. Opportunities for individuals to learn more about how they can help protect the oceans will also be available, including educational displays from the Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life about sharks and the climate change work happening locally in Quincy, live lobsters from the center’s research lab, games made of recycled material for kids, interactive turtle tagging and open conversations with scientists about Northern fur seals, whales, lobsters and other animals. Local conservation groups, such as Boston Sea Rovers, Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, Paddle Boston, and others will also be on hand. The US Coast Guard Auxiliary will bring Coastie, their animatronic tug boat that speaks with children in real time about water safety to promote youth education, and the 2018 Ocean Stewardship Awards will be presented to local educators.
